Tell Your Story – Turning Hope into a Home
Are you or your family urgently looking for an apartment or a room? Many people are willing to help – but they need to understand why you need this help. Your story can touch the heart of a landlord and encourage them to offer housing they might not have rented out otherwise.
To make your introduction as effective as possible, please provide the following information:
🟢 Who are you?
- Who is part of your family or household? (Names, ages)
- Where are you from, and why did you come to Germany?
🟢 Your life in Germany
- What are you currently doing (work, training, school, language course)?
- What progress have you or your children already made?
🟢 Why do you urgently need a home?
- Where do you currently live, and why is this difficult for you or your family?
- What challenges does your current housing situation present (e.g., long commutes to work/school, overcrowding, unsuitable conditions for children, or health problems)?
🟢 What are you looking for?
- What type of apartment or room do you need?
- What is the minimum size (e.g., number of rooms or square meters)?
- What is the maximum rent that can be covered by the Jobcenter?
- In which city or region are you looking?
- Do you have special requirements (e.g., proximity to work/school, accessibility, family-friendly environment)?
- Are you or anyone in your family a smoker or non-smoker?
🟢 What can you offer?
- Can you pay rent? Will the Jobcenter provide financial support?
- Do you have someone who could act as a guarantor?
- Can you help with household chores, do handyman work, or assist in the garden?
🟢 Pictures say more than words
If you wish, you can include one or more friendly photos. Pictures help build a personal connection and make your story more relatable.
💛 Your story can make a difference!
Be honest and open – people are more willing to help when they understand how urgent your situation is.
